St. Josephs College was founded in 1977 by Rt Rev. Dr. Joseph Kureethara, Bishop of Cochin (1975-1999). His vision was to provide educational opportunities for students in Cochin who lacked access to traditional colleges. Founded in 1558, the Diocese of Cochin is one of the oldest dioceses in India. Located along the Arabian Sea, it has played a key role in the educational and socio-economic development of the coastal community. St. Joseph's College continues this mission as part of the Diocese’s legacy.
